For the first eight years of my career, I worked in marketing as an in-house designer for global and national brands. Now that I'm freelancing full-time, I can see that my in-house experience has taught me a lot of other important things, too.
I know how to navigate “ASAP” timelines with grace. To make sure that design is not only beautiful, but solves a problem. To appreciate fellow creatives, and how close collaboration can make a stronger finished product. To respect that time is precious, and so are marketing dollars. To recognize that every brand has a unique audience, and that the more focused it is, the more reflection and care it requires. It’s taught me how to go about understanding your brand, your business, and the full scope of your project upfront, so I can deliver a compelling solution efficiently and with minimal revisions.
